Agartala, January 31, 2025: Jitendra Chaudhury has been re-elected as the Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Tripura unit, as the party concluded its 24th state conference. A 61-member state committee has also been constituted for the next three years.
Senior CPI(M) leader Pabitra Kar confirmed the developments, stating, “Jitendra Chaudhury, the Leader of Opposition in the Tripura Assembly, has been unanimously re-elected as the CPI(M) state secretary. The new 61-member state committee includes six women members.”
The decisions were finalized during the three-day conference, which began on January 29. As part of the event, the party organized a massive rally, where senior CPI(M) leaders, including Prakash Karat and former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, addressed supporters.
Expressing gratitude for his re-election, Chaudhury told PTI, “I am honored by the party’s faith in me. This is a greater responsibility, and my focus will be on strengthening the party and restoring democracy and constitutional order in the state.”
Leading up to the conference, the party had completed its internal meetings at various levels, including branch, local, divisional, and district committees. CPI(M) currently has over 4,000 branch committees, more than 300 local panels, 24 divisional committees, and eight district panels across Tripura.
