The second edition of the Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival (EIIFF) is set to take place from February 6–9, 2025, in Manipur, a state known for its rich cinematic and cultural heritage. Organized by the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) and the Manipur State Film & Television Institute (MSFTI), the festival will showcase 54 films, including 38 international titles, aiming to promote independent filmmaking and establish Manipur as a strategic hub for cinema.
In a press briefing held at the MSFDS, the EIIFF 2025 Festival Committee officially unveiled the Festival Memento. Designed by renowned artist Robin Wahengbam, the memento features the Manipuri Pony, symbolizing the enduring spirit of cinema and Manipur’s artistic resilience. Robin Wahengbam, who also created the mascot for the 1999 National Games held in Manipur, shared that his inspiration stemmed from the relentless energy of both the film industry and the Manipuri Pony, an endangered indigenous breed.
With a vision to elevate EIIFF as a premier international festival, this year’s edition will feature critically acclaimed films from global festivals and a special focus on cinema from Northeast India. The festival’s film lineup includes categories such as International Competition, World Lenses, Northeast Currents, Eikhoigi Classics, Eikhoigi Montage, Remastered Manipuri Cinema: The Light of Manipuri and Manipuri Matinee.
Beyond film screenings, EIIFF 2025 will offer a series of industry-driven events, including Masterclasses, Cine Talks, Panel Discussions, and Pitch Sessions in both Documentary and Fiction categories, aimed at fostering talent and facilitating industry networking.
Festival Director Sunzu Bachaspatimayum announced that delegate registration for the festival is now open. Film screenings are exclusive to accredited festival delegates, with a registration fee of Rs. 150/- on www.eiiff.org. Accredited delegates will receive free access to all screenings, industry events, a multi-cuisine food court, and vibrant cultural programs at the City Convention Centre. While children are welcome at the food court and cultural programs, they will not be permitted inside film screenings.
