Agartala, February 18, 2025: Tripura Police on Monday arrested seven individuals for alleged cheating and proxy attendance during the Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) recruitment exams at Tripura Central University.
According to Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, Himadri Sarkar, the exams were conducted on Sunday under the supervision of university teachers. During routine verification, several candidates were caught engaging in unfair practices.
Among those apprehended were Mrinmoy Biswas, Liton Biswas, Mitan Mondal, Rajbir Singh, and Rahul Kumar, who were found using electronic devices to cheat. Mobile phones were discovered concealed inside their shoes, connected via Bluetooth to assist in the malpractice. Alert invigilators seized their answer sheets, and they were immediately disqualified from this year’s examination.
In a separate incident, authorities detected two individuals attempting to take the exam on behalf of registered candidates. Upon interrogation, Pankaj Kumar from Bihar and Ram Bir Meena from Rajasthan confessed to impersonation. Their answer sheets were seized, and their candidature was canceled.
Following a formal complaint by university officials, the two were detained and later presented before the court. “They were formally arrested last night,” confirmed OC Himadri Sarkar.
