Agartala, February 19, 2025: A sense of shock gripped the Swami Vivekananda Maidan area in Agartala city early this morning as locals found the lifeless body of a vagabond lying under the stage. The body was recovered at around 7 AM, prompting an immediate response from the local police.

Eyewitnesses reported the incident to the authorities, who soon arrived at the scene. The deceased, a young man who frequently roamed the Lake Chowmuhani area, was found in a critical condition with visible injury marks on his head and ear. While the exact cause of death remains unknown, initial assessments suggest the possibility of an animal attack.

A senior police officer investigating the case stated, “We have not yet identified the deceased. There were visible injuries on the head and ear, but it is too early to determine the cause of death. It appears that a stray animal might have scavenged parts of the body. The deceased was reportedly unwell for some time. We have registered a case of unnatural death and are awaiting autopsy results.”

Local residents mentioned that the deceased was known to them but did not have a permanent home. One of the witnesses remarked, “He used to wander around this area. Though we didn’t know his name, some say he belonged to the Barjala Nepali slum.”

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and the police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the death.

Meanwhile in another tragic incident, the body of a college student was recovered early in the morning in a rented house near Anik Club in Shibnagar of Agartala city. The deceased has been identified as Bipul Jamatia, was a student at MBB College and had been living in the house of Tapan Pal for a long time. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the neighborhood.

According to reports, the house owner grew suspicious when Bipul did not respond in the morning. Upon entering the room, he found the young man lying motionless on the floor. He immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the body.

Speaking to the media, a police official said, “We received information about the incident around 7 AM. Upon reaching the spot, we found the young man unresponsive. The body has been sent for an autopsy. His family has been notified, and further investigation is underway.”

Bipul’s father, who was already en route to Agartala in search of his son, was devastated upon receiving the heartbreaking news. “My son had been unwell for some time. I couldn’t contact him yesterday, which worried me. I was on my way to find him when I got the call,” he said, struggling to hold back tears.

The police are treating the case as an unnatural death and are awaiting medical reports to determine the cause. The sudden loss of the young student has left friends and acquaintances in deep sorrow as authorities continue their probe.
