Punyo Nampi, an outstanding scholar from Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s International Scholarship at the University of Warwick in England. Nampi, hailing from Ziro in Lower Subansiri District, is one of only 42 students globally to receive this highly competitive award.
Daughter of Punyo Yakang and the late Punyo Tado, Nampi excelled academically, completing her B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling, where she topped her batch in 2022. She then pursued a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from IIT Madras, graduating with First-Class Honours after clearing the IIT Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM).
Nampi will now pursue her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Warwick, a world-renowned institution ranked 69th globally in the QS World Rankings and a member of the prestigious Russell Group. As part of the scholarship, Nampi will receive full tuition fee coverage, approximately Rs 34.19 lakh per year, along with a maintenance stipend of Rs 22.75 lakh for living expenses. Additionally, she will be granted a Research, Training, and Supporting grant of Rs 5 lakh to support her research efforts during her three-and-a-half-year doctoral program.
