Imphal, Feb 21: Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh has reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to youth development, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering discipline, resilience, and social unity.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 4th Master Boys and Girls Boxing Championship and the 1st State Level Blue Cubs Baby League at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Thursday, Singh noted that the youth have been among the most affected by the state’s ongoing violence. He urged them to engage in sports as a constructive alternative to anti-social activities.

Highlighting Manipur’s rich sporting tradition, Singh said the state has produced several Olympic medallists and international champions. He also emphasized the Manipur Police’s role in promoting sports, with over 400 athletes in its ranks, including renowned players like Mary Kom, Sarita Laishram, and Mirabai Chanu.

Reiterating the force’s commitment to nurturing young talent, Singh stated that sports not only promote discipline and teamwork but also provide a structured path for youth development and engagement.
