16 Weapons And Ammunition Voluntarily Surrendered In Manipur

A total of 16 different types of weapons, along with various ammunition and other miscellaneous items, were voluntarily surrendered by the public at multiple locations across Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Imphal West districts on March 4, 2025.

In Bishnupur district, weapons were surrendered at various police stations. At the CDO Unit under Bishnupur Police Station, the surrendered items included two SLR rifles with two empty magazines, an INSAS rifle with two magazines containing 36 rounds, an empty LMG magazine with nine extra rounds, a .303 rifle with two magazines, a smoke shell, three .303 ammunition rounds, 15 live rounds, an SBBL gun, five detonators, and a hand grenade. At Kumbi Police Station, two locally made bolt-action rifles and a locally made pistol with one magazine were surrendered. Additionally, at PGCI Police Station, a submachine gun (SMG) carbine with an empty magazine and a single-barrel weapon were handed over.

In Imphal East district, weapons were surrendered at different police stations. At the CDO Unit under Porompat Police Station, the surrendered arms included a 9mm pistol with a magazine, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 15 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, seven rounds of .38mm ammunition, six 12-bore cartridges, two No. 36 hand grenades, a stun grenade, a bulletproof jacket, two helmets, two bulletproof plates, two magazine posts, 14 SLR rifle charger clips, two .303 rifle charger clips, and four illumination live rounds. At Andro Police Station, a hand grenade with a detonator, an old unidentified bomb weighing about 5kg, seven live rounds of an M16 rifle, four live rounds of an AK rifle, 21 empty cartridges of an INSAS rifle, 17 empty cartridges of 9mm ammunition, 14 empty cartridges of 7.62mm rounds, 298 empty cartridges of a .303 rifle, two live tracer rounds, a fiber helmet, and eight bulletproof jackets were surrendered. At Porompat Police Station, two pistols, six live rounds of pistol ammunition, six stun grenades, two bulletproof jackets, and two bulletproof plates were handed over. At Irilbung Police Station, a country-made pistol, three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, six 12-bore cartridges, six anti-riot shells, three bulletproof jackets, and three pieces of bulletproof plates were surrendered.

In Imphal West district, surrendered items at Mayang Imphal Police Station included an SBBL gun, a .36 HE hand grenade, three tear smoke shells, a tear smoke shell (softnose), five rounds of SBBL ammunition, five rounds of SLR ammunition, five rounds of .303 ammunition, one round of AK ammunition, a .32 pistol (USA), three rounds of .32 ammunition, five Baofeng handheld sets, two helmets, four Baofeng handheld set chargers, a bulletproof plastic plate, two bulletproof covers, a high trajectory modified mortar pumpei, four pairs of shoes, a camouflage shirt, a camouflage pant, and a jacket.

The surrendered arms and ammunition were handed over to the respective police stations for further necessary action. Authorities have commended the public’s cooperation in ensuring peace and security in the region.
