Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Attends Duodecennial Celebration Of Manipur High Court

The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today graced the Duodecennial Celebration of the High Court of Manipur in Imphal, marking 12 years since its establishment. The event saw the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Justice B.R. Gavai, Seniormost Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), along with Supreme Court Judges Justice Vikram Nath, Justice M.M. Sundresh, Justice K.V. Viswanathan, and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law & Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, Justice D. Krishnakumar, and High Court Judges Justice A. Bimol Singh, Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma, and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu were also in attendance. The event was further graced by the Advocate General, representatives from the Bar Council and Bar Association, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, and the Director General of Police (DGP).

As part of the celebration, Governor Bhalla laid the foundation stone for the District & Sessions Court building in Churachandpur and announced the creation of new positions within the Chief Justice Secretariat of the High Court of Manipur.

In his address, the Governor highlighted Manipur’s rich judicial legacy, tracing it back to the ancient Courts of Kutchu and Pacha and the historic Cheirap Court in Imphal. He acknowledged the evolution of judicial administration, noting that during the pre-independence era, the Manipur State Durbar held both original and appellate jurisdiction over civil and criminal matters.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, Governor Bhalla remarked, “This celebration is not just a mark of another year but a reaffirmation of justice, fairness, and equality for all citizens of our state.” He congratulated the Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court of Manipur for their dedication in upholding the rule of law and ensuring speedy justice delivery. He also appreciated the presence of Supreme Court Judges and the Law and Justice Minister, calling it a testament to the nation’s commitment to Manipur’s judicial development.

During the event, the Supreme Court Judges and the Union Minister of State for Law and Justice inaugurated several key projects and laid the foundation for various new judicial infrastructure developments. The celebration concluded with a spectacular cultural performance by artists from JNMDA, showcasing Manipur’s rich heritage.

The High Court of Manipur, since its establishment, has played a crucial role in strengthening the judicial system in the state, and today’s milestone serves as a reminder of its ongoing journey toward justice and equality.
