Shillong, Mar 25: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma hosted dignitaries from 13 countries and provinces at the 7th Act East Business Show in Shillong on Tuesday. The event, aimed at enhancing economic and trade relations between the BBIN (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal) and ASEAN nations, focused on key sectors such as technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.
Sangma highlighted the state government’s vision to achieve a 10 Billion Dollar Economy, emphasizing the importance of investments and partnerships. He stressed that Meghalaya’s growth will be driven by strategic policies, infrastructure development, investment in people, entrepreneurship, and strong grassroots networks.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged India’s political will in advancing development and reiterated the North East’s potential in strengthening economic ties between BBIN and ASEAN countries. He underscored the need for creating specialized zones to facilitate targeted partnerships.
Looking forward to the event’s outcomes, Sangma expressed optimism for positive developments that will foster economic growth and cooperation in the region.
