Itanagar, Mar 31: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated a septage management and treatment plant in Chongkham on Monday. The facility will serve the cluster towns of Namsai, Chongkham, Tezu, Roing, and nearby rural areas, aiming to improve sanitation and public health.
Funded under the 2021-22 Budget Announcement, the plant is designed to collect and treat faecal sludge from septic tanks, converting it into bio-products and manure for non-agricultural purposes such as gardening and flower plantations. Chowna Mein emphasized that the project aligns with national sanitation goals and contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment.
He commended the Department of Urban Affairs, Namsai Division, and M/s ACE Alliance Private Ltd for their efforts in executing the project. He also expressed appreciation to the villagers of Alu Bari and Naupotia, as well as the land donors, for their cooperation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by MLAs Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Mohesh Chai, Puinnyo Apum, and other officials.
