International University In Nagaland Names New Library After RSS founder Hedgewar

Kohima, Apr 1 : The International University in Dimapur, Nagaland, has named its newly inaugurated library in honor of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Nagaland Governor La Ganesan inaugurated the Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar Central Library on Monday. The library, which houses a collection of 75,000 books, was unveiled on the eve of the 136th birth anniversary of Dr. Hedgewar, born on April 1, 1889, in Nagpur.

During the inauguration, Governor Ganesan highlighted the importance of libraries in fostering intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning. He praised the establishment of the library as a tribute to Dr. Hedgewar’s legacy and his contributions to India’s cultural and nationalist awakening.

“A well-equipped library serves as a center for learning and reflection, motivating students and scholars to explore various subjects while staying connected to the ethos of our civilization,” the Governor stated. He also quoted Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing that education helps manifest the inherent perfection within individuals, with libraries playing a crucial role in this development.

The Governor also underscored the significance of incorporating digital learning tools and modern technology into the library to meet the evolving needs of students and researchers. He urged students to use the library not just for academic excellence but also for their intellectual and personal growth.

Dr. Priyaranjan Trivedi, the founder of the university, was commended for his efforts in establishing the library and for his contributions to literature on the objectives and achievements of the RSS. The Governor also praised the faculty, students, and administration for their dedicated efforts in bringing the vision of the Central Library to life.

The library’s inauguration marks a significant milestone for the academic community in Nagaland, positioning it as a vital resource for students, researchers, and scholars. The event was attended by Pro-Chancellor Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Founder Chancellor Dr. Priyaranjan Trivedi, Chancellor Dr. Shyam Narayan Pandey, and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Subhram Rajkhowa.
