Aizawl, Apr 1: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who also holds the finance portfolio, announced on Monday that the state government will close the fiscal year with a cash balance of over ₹900 crore with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
On the last day of the fiscal year, Lalduhoma, accompanied by his spouse Liansailovi, visited the Aizawl South and Aizawl North treasuries to assess the state’s financial position. He praised the finance department and treasury officials for their efficient management of state finances and timely settlements.
The chief minister highlighted that the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government successfully cleared all pension liabilities, disbursed provident funds to applicants, and settled medical bills.
“Despite significant expenses to clear liabilities, we have managed to retain a cash balance of over ₹900 crore with the RBI. The cash balance for the 2023-2024 fiscal was ₹500 crore,” Lalduhoma said, adding that the final balance would be confirmed by April 1.
Finance Commissioner Vanlaldina Fanai, Finance Secretary Ramchuana, and other senior finance officials were present during the visit.
