Manipur: Security Forces Arrest Multiple Militants, Liquor Smuggler

Security forces in Manipur arrested a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK-Pro outfit on Tuesday for his involvement in extortion activities across Kakching District. The arrested individual, Moirangthem Roshan Singh (40) of Chairel Awang Leikai, Kakching District, was apprehended from Aihang Village near a waiting shed under Waikhong Police Station. Authorities confirmed that he was actively engaged in extorting money from various institutions in and around Wangoo Chairel and Pangaltabi areas. A mobile phone was seized from his possession.

In a separate operation, Manipur Police on Monday arrested two individuals suspected of facilitating extortion activities for underground organizations targeting transport vehicles in Sekmai, Imphal West District. The arrested persons were identified as Wahengbam Binanta Singh (45) of Palace Compound near Heinou Makhong, Imphal East, and Hijam Gogoba Singh, alias Gogo (44), of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Imphal East. They were taken into custody from Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi and Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, respectively, under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East District.

Security forces recovered two mobile phones and one four-wheeler from their possession.

In another operation, security forces arrested an individual for liquor smuggling at Tengnoupal Naka Check Post under Tengnoupal Police Station, Tengnoupal District. The suspect, Jamminthang Haokip (28) of Canan Veng, Moreh Ward No. VII, was found in possession of three boxes containing 72 half-litre plastic bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
