Agartala, April 02, 2025: The Tripura government is actively considering the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission and a decision will be taken at an appropriate time, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy stated during the Question and Answer Session in the state assembly on Tuesday.
Responding to a query from Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, the Finance Minister clarified, “On January 16 this year, the central government announced the proposal to form the Eighth Pay Commission. As of now, no state in India has made a final decision on this matter. The Tripura government will also take an appropriate decision when the time comes.”
Addressing another question from MLA Sudip Roy Barman, he emphasized that the state government has provided all necessary details regarding Tripura’s financial condition to the Sixteenth Finance Commission. “The Finance Commission has appreciated the state’s financial management,” he asserted.
Speaking on the issue of dearness allowance, the minister assured that the state government is committed to addressing employees’ concerns. “Dearness allowance is being given regularly to government employees and pensioners. Our government is making continuous efforts to bridge the gap between central and state employees regarding DA payments,” he added.
The announcement holds significance amid growing anticipation among government employees regarding the Eighth Pay Commission’s implementation.
