Security forces have arrested two militants, including a female cadre, belonging to the proscribed outfits KCP (PWG) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from different locations in Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
In a joint operation on Wednesday, security personnel apprehended an active female member of the KCP (PWG) from Thongju Part-II Leirak Macha under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West. The arrested individual has been identified as Khoirom Deepsea Devi alias Irunganbi (33) of Haobam Marak Lourembam Leikai, Imphal West. Authorities recovered a mobile phone, two SIM cards, and an Aadhaar card from her possession.
On the same day, another operation led to the arrest of an active PLA cadre near the Waiting Shed in Sanjenbam Khullen under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East. The militant has been identified as Thounaojam Sachindra Singh alias Laba alias Alex (24) of Takhel Mamang Leikai, Imphal East. He was allegedly involved in extortion and intimidation activities in the region. A mobile phone was seized from his possession.
Both arrested individuals have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings, according to police sources.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, security forces recovered arms and ammunition during search operations conducted in vulnerable hill and valley areas over the past 24 hours.
A search operation in Khangabok Loukol, near M/S Sorojini Oil Pump under Thoubal Police Station in Thoubal district, led to the recovery of one carbine, three magazines, and 50 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Additionally, security forces recovered two Baofeng handheld radio sets and one bulletproof jacket with plates from Mollum village and nearby areas under Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur district.
The recovered arms and equipment have been handed over to the respective police stations for further investigation and necessary legal action.
