Agartala, April 07, 2025: In a powerful story of grit and grace, Kakoli Dhar, a young dancer from Tripura’s Gandacherra in Dhalai district has captured hearts and headlines by qualifying for the semifinals of the state’s prestigious dance competition, Nach Tripura Nach.

Representing a region once considered a remote and underdeveloped corner of Tripura, Kakoli’s achievement is being celebrated not just as a personal milestone, but as a moment of pride for the entire Gandacherra subdivision. The road to the semifinals began at an intensive eight-day dance camp held at Bhagat Singh Hostel in Agartala starting March 26. Among 24 promising dancers selected from across the state, Kakoli’s performance stood out, earning her a coveted place in the semifinal round scheduled for April 12.

Hailing from a humble family, Kakoli’s rise has not been easy. But armed with determination, talent, and the unwavering support of her community, she has defied the odds.
