Kohima, Apr 7: The Wildlife Warden’s office in Dimapur has issued a public advisory following confirmed sightings of a leopard near Chudi village in Wokha district. Camera traps recorded the animal’s movement on the 27th of last month, suggesting it may have been attracted to livestock in the area.
Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution, particularly during evening and nighttime hours, and to refrain from venturing alone into nearby forested areas. Residents are urged to secure livestock in sturdy enclosures, maintain clean surroundings to prevent attracting wild animals, and report any unusual animal movements or livestock disappearances immediately.
The Wildlife Division also emphasized the need to avoid spreading rumours and cautioned villagers not to approach or provoke the animal if sighted.
