According to an official statement, Tripura will receive 25 new roads spanning 84.352 kilometers, backed by an investment of Rs. 76.47 crore. This comes in addition to 42 roads totaling 118.756 kilometers that were previously sanctioned under the same scheme, with an earlier allocation of Rs. 114.32 crore.
In Odisha, 26 new roads covering 63.271 kilometers and two Long Span Bridges (LSBs) have been approved, amounting to an investment of Rs. 69.65 crore. Prior approvals under PM-JANMAN in the state included 66 roads covering 211.14 kilometers and four LSBs, supported by an estimated Rs. 219.40 crore.
The PM-JANMAN initiative aims to provide all-weather road access to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations in remote regions, enhancing their integration into the broader socio-economic framework. The ministry emphasized that these projects are expected to transform tribal regions by improving access to healthcare, education, markets, and employment opportunities.
Officials stated that the enhanced connectivity would not only bridge the urban-rural divide but also stimulate local economies, aligning with the national vision of “Viksit Bharat” — a developed India. The approved projects mark a continued commitment to inclusive growth and empowerment of marginalized communities.
