Agartala, April 07, 2025: The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert across all districts of Tripura for the next five days, warning of thunderstorms, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds.

“A yellow alert has been issued for North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, Khowai and West Tripura districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph and moderate rain are expected at isolated places during this period,” an official from the Meteorological Department said on Monday.

According to the department, the weather activity is influenced by a cyclonic circulation located about 1.5 km above sea level over East Assam and its neighbouring regions. As a result, very light rain was recorded in West Tripura, Sepahijala, North Tripura, and Unakoti districts. Meanwhile, the remaining parts of the state witnessed dry conditions over the past 24 hours.

“Wind speed reached 59 kmph from the north-northeast direction over Agartala airport at midnight, causing damage in several areas,” the official confirmed. “We are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused.”

The department has cautioned residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas prone to storm-related incidents. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
