A high-level Orientation and Review Meeting focused on tribal welfare initiatives was held today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur.

The meeting, conducted in a hybrid format, reviewed the progress of two major central schemes—Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) and PM-JANMAN.

The session was chaired by T. Roumuan Paite, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and saw the participation of key officials including Ms. Hanna Kamei, Director of Tribal Affairs & Hills; Mr. ST Rithung Anal, State Nodal Officer for DAJGUA; Ms. Mannuamching, Deputy Commissioner of Pherzawl; Mr. Thangboi Gangte, ADC of Churachandpur; and Mr. Khaikhopau Ngaihte, ADC of Mualnuam. District Level Officers (DLOs) from Churachandpur and Pherzawl were also in attendance, along with Administrative Secretaries, District Magistrates, and Directors from various line departments across the state.

The Joint Secretary emphasized the need for better orientation on DAJGUA guidelines to ensure the schemes reach intended tribal beneficiaries effectively. He called for the establishment of District and Block-level committees to strengthen survey processes and enhance implementation efficiency.

Paite also directed district administrations in Manipur to organize orientation programs for DLOs within the current month to streamline operations on the ground.

DAJGUA is aimed at empowering tribal populations by providing infrastructure and basic services to over 63,843 villages, potentially benefiting more than 5 crore tribal individuals. Meanwhile, PM-JANMAN focuses on holistic development for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) by delivering essential services such as housing, clean drinking water, sanitation, healthcare, education, and connectivity.
