Kohima, Apr 16 : Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, has called for renewed efforts to prioritize grassroots development in football to foster growth in Mokokchung.
At the launch of the zonal associations of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), Longkumer emphasized that progress in football begins at the local level. He acknowledged the district’s current lack of sports infrastructure and urged sports bodies to restructure their approaches to ensure sustainable growth.
While the construction of the astro-turf ground is still in progress, Longkumer expressed optimism that it would eventually host Nagaland Super League matches upon completion. The newly established zonal association seeks to decentralize football governance and strengthen grassroots involvement across the district.
