Mizoram, a Christian-majority state, observed Good Friday with religious fervour, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ through special church services and traditional hymns.
Churches belonging to various denominations, including the Presbyterian Church and the Baptist Church of Mizoram (BCM), conducted special sermons and prayers reflecting on the suffering and sacrifice of Christ.
Traditional congregational singing, locally known as “Zaikhawm” or “Lengkhawm,” was held in most churches, forming an important part of the Good Friday observance. These communal hymn sessions are also a key feature of other major Christian festivals such as Christmas and Easter in Mizoram.
