Itanagar, Apr 19: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu officially inaugurated the 4th Arunachal State Games 2025 at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia. The event featured athletes from all districts competing in 23 different disciplines, showcasing the state’s growing sporting talent.
In his address, Khandu highlighted the state’s recent achievements, including a strong performance at the 38th National Games, where Arunachal Pradesh secured 2nd place in the Northeast with 13 medals. He expressed his ambition for the state to break into the top 10 states at the upcoming 39th National Games in Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister outlined the state’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure, with new stadiums planned in Lower Dibang Valley, Pakke Kessang, and Longding, as well as a world-class 25,000-seat stadium under construction in the state capital, Itanagar. He also reaffirmed the importance of the Mission Olympics program to provide athletes with top-tier training facilities both within India and abroad.
Looking ahead, Khandu emphasized the state’s plans to host major sports events like the SAFF U-19 Championship 2025, while announcing that the Arunachal State Games would become an annual event to celebrate unity, fitness, and excellence.
With a vision for continued success, Khandu concluded by stating, “The future of Arunachal sports is bright — and it’s only going to get brighter.”
