Gangtok, Apr 21: The Fit India Sunday on Cycle with Journalists event was held successfully on Sunday in Namchi, as part of the National FIT India campaign, to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle.
Flagged off by District Information Officer (DIO) Namchi, Deepti Pradhan, the cycling route began and ended at the Sports Training Centre (STC), Namchi, extending to the Helipad.
Organized by STC Namchi, under the aegis of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the event carried the theme “Cycle for a Fitter & Healthier Future” and the slogan “Pedal2Fitness and a Pollution ka Solution.” The cycling rally was part of a nationwide initiative conducted simultaneously at over 1,000 locations across India.
A total of 30 participants joined the rally, including staff members from the Information and Public Relations Department Namchi, journalists, and volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra Namchi.
The event was also attended by B S Malik, Accounts and Programme Assistant at NYK Namchi, Rupen Pradhan, Incharge of SAI Namchi, along with SAI and STC staff.
The initiative underscored the importance of regular physical activity and sought to encourage a culture of fitness among citizens, aligning with the FIT India Movement’s ongoing efforts to foster a healthier nation.
