Sikkim: SSB Director General Amrit Mohan Prasad Visits 72nd Battalion In Yuksom

Gangtok, Apr 21: Amrit Mohan Prasad, Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), visited the 72nd Battalion in Yuksom on Sunday, 20 April 2025. During the visit, he was warmly received with floral tributes by Sudhir Kumar, Inspector General of Frontier Headquarters, Siliguri, Manish Kumar, Deputy Inspector General of Sector Headquarters, Gangtok, and Jai Prakash, Commandant of the 72nd Battalion.

The Director General was presented with a Guard of Honour by the battalion before inspecting the camp premises. He also participated in a tree plantation drive and addressed a Sainik Sammelan (troop conference), where he listened to the concerns of the personnel, including those stationed at remote border outposts via hybrid mode. Prasad provided necessary instructions to enhance operational effectiveness and boosted the morale of the forces.

Additionally, Prasad visited the Nambu Border Outpost under the battalion’s jurisdiction, interacting with the deployed personnel and commending their dedication.

On the same day, Shikha Prasad, President of SANDIKSHA, Force Headquarters, New Delhi, visited the Battalion Headquarters. She was greeted by Sumitra Raut, President of SANDIKSHA, and Sarmistha Mukhopadhyay, Vice President of SANDIKSHA, 72nd Battalion. The event featured a cultural program presented by the battalion’s SANDIKSHA unit, which was appreciated by the Chief Guest.

The visit reinforced SSB’s commitment to its motto, “Service, Security, Brotherhood,” and served as a significant morale booster for the troops and their families.
