Agartala, April 21, 2025: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan identified as Moni Kundan of the Tripura’s Maharani Battalion in Udaipur under Gomati district was shot under mysterious circumstances on Monday morning sparking tension in the Karbook assembly constituency’s border area.
According to official sources, the jawan was initially rushed to Natunbazar Hospital following the incident. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to Gomati District Hospital and later shifted to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
“The bullet seems to have hit him in the chest or on the side. His condition remains extremely critical,” said a doctor at Gomati District Hospital who treated him before the transfer.
Local authorities and BSF officials are yet to confirm how the shooting occurred. The lack of clarity surrounding the incident has led to widespread concern among local residents and within the security community.
“This incident has caused a lot of unrest in the border area. We are awaiting a detailed report,” said a local official, requesting anonymity.
As investigations continue, questions remain unanswered regarding the source of the firing and the circumstances that led to the jawan being shot.
