Itanagar, Apr 21: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the International Conclave on “Buddha Dhamma & the Culture of North-East India” in Namsai on Monday. The two-day event, organized by the International Buddhist Confederation in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Culture, aims to promote cultural exchange and dialogue.
The inaugural session was attended by key figures, including Bhutan’s Consul General in Guwahati, Jigme Thinley Namgyal, Director General of the International Buddhist Confederation, Abhijit Halder, and Secretary General Shartse Jangchup Choeden Rinpoche.
The first day of the conclave featured discussions on the region’s historical relevance, art, and culture, along with the influence of Buddha Dhamma on neighboring countries. The second day will focus on Vipassana meditation and prayers for world peace at the Golden Pagoda in Namsai.
Buddhist monks and scholars from India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Bhutan, and other nations are participating in the event.
