Gangtok, Apr 22: Ashmita Paul, a 20-year-old self-defence instructor from Guwahati, Assam, met the Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan on Monday.

She is on a solo bike ride to Sikkim to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) programme and to spread awareness about the initiative throughout her journey.

The Governor commended her efforts in training women and girls in self-defence across schools and colleges and conveyed his best wishes for her future endeavours.
