Mizoram Chief Minister Inaugurates 24th MHIP General Assembly In Aizawl

Aizawl, Apr 22: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma on Tuesday inaugurated the 24th General Assembly of the Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl.

In his address, the Chief Minister commended MHIP for its continued efforts in public service and community development. He highlighted the organisation’s involvement in government welfare schemes, including Swadhar Greh and One Stop Centre. He also acknowledged the work carried out by the Sub-Headquarters of MHIP in Serchhip District under the Swadhar Greh scheme and its contribution to the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme.

The Chief Minister recalled that MHIP was conferred the Nari Shakti Puruskar in 2016 by the Ministry of Women & Child Development for its contribution to women’s welfare. He also noted MHIP’s role in initiating the Mizo Marriage, Divorce, and Inheritance Bills in 2013, which led to the enactment of The Mizo Marriage, Divorce and Inheritance of Property Act in 2014.

Emphasising the role of families in building a strong society, Pu Lalduhoma said that a stable family contributes to the strength of the state and the nation. He called on the public to raise children who will contribute positively to society.

MHIP President Pi Ngurmawii Sailo extended her gratitude to the Chief Minister, dignitaries, and delegates. According to the General Secretary’s report, MHIP currently comprises 10 Sub-Headquarters, 30 Block Units, 9 Joint Units, and 765 Branches, with approximately 289,300 members.

The Assembly was chaired by MHIP Vice President Pi B. Sangkhumi. The event began with a prayer led by Pi Ronguri of W. Phaileng, followed by speeches and report presentations. Padma Shri awardee Pi B. Sangkhumi was also honoured during the event for her long-standing leadership and contributions to the welfare and empowerment of Mizo women.
