Five candidates from the Northeastern region have cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2024, with Sagar Datta Majumdar from Tripura securing the highest rank among them.
Majumdar secured All India Rank (AIR) 317, the top rank from the Northeast this year.
From Arunachal Pradesh, Bullo Manku achieved AIR 645, while Dr Zing Messar secured AIR 846. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his congratulations to both candidates, noting that their success would inspire many young aspirants in the state.
In Assam, Bhaswata Saikia from Nagaon district secured AIR 474. A graduate of IIT Guwahati, Saikia had earlier cleared the UPSC examination in 2023 with AIR 552 and is currently serving as an IPS officer in Pune.
From Mizoram, Jerry Lalhratthang Buongpui secured AIR 999. The Hmar Students’ Association, Joint Headquarters Delhi, congratulated him and described his success as a proud moment for the community.
The performance of these candidates highlights the growing representation of the Northeast in India’s civil services.
