Gangtok, Apr 23: The inaugural Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) Car Rally in Sikkim commenced on Wednesday with a flag-off ceremony at Ridge Park, Gangtok. The event attracted rally enthusiasts, government officials, and media representatives.

Organised by Summit Times in collaboration with Service to Mankind and the Information & Public Relations Department (IPRD) of the Government of Sikkim, the rally is also supported by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).

Leg 1 of the rally will see participants travel from Gangtok to Lachung in North Sikkim. A total of 32 vehicles are competing in the rally, marking a historic moment for motorsports in the state.

Before the flag-off, each team received a “Tulip,” a key document that provides route instructions and is a vital part of TSD rallying. The ceremony was attended by Secretary IPRD Ms. Anapurna Alley, Director IPRD Mr. Umesh Sunam, and other senior officials.

The rally is part of Sikkim’s 50th Anniversary of Statehood celebrations, aiming to promote rural tourism, support local homestays, and develop motorsports within the region.
