CISF Takes Over Security At Lengpui Airport In Mizoram

Aizawl, Apr 25: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has officially assumed security responsibilities at Lengpui Airport, the only airport in Mizoram, marking the first deployment of the CISF in the state.

The induction ceremony was held on Thursday, with Mizoram Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Shukla, IPS, handing over the CISF flag to the Chief Airport Security Officer (CASO), Lengpui Airport.

An initial deployment of 121 CISF personnel, led by a Deputy Commandant, has taken charge. This number will be increased to the sanctioned strength of 214, replacing the joint security arrangement maintained by the Mizoram State Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) since 1999.

Lengpui Airport becomes the 69th airport in India to come under CISF protection. The deployment aligns with the Government of India’s initiative to strengthen aviation security across the country.

With over 25 years of experience in aviation security, the CISF will implement advanced security protocols in coordination with local authorities and stakeholders. These measures aim to ensure passenger safety and address threats such as terrorism and smuggling.

Officials present at the ceremony included Shri Vijay Prakash, IPS, IG CISF/APS-I HQr, New Delhi; Deepak Verma, DIG AP (E&NE) HQr, Kolkata; Meenu Chowdhary, IPS, ADGP Mizoram Police; C. Lalzahngoa, IPS, SP Security; Rohan Botre, IPS, Joint Deputy Director, SIB; Lalrohlua, Aviation Director; Pu Saidenga, Airport Director; Pranav Kumar, Commandant, CISF; and Harish Singh Nayal, Deputy Commandant, CISF.

Representatives from the Airport Wing (GAD), CRPF, Airport Authority of India, airline operators, fuel companies, ground handling agencies, and other stakeholders were also in attendance.
