Shillong, Apr 24: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma presented the state’s long-term economic vision during a State Vision Plan review meeting chaired by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
The Chief Minister discussed the state’s progress and challenges in sectors including agriculture and food processing, tourism, entrepreneurship, and connectivity. He also outlined a strategic roadmap aimed at achieving Meghalaya’s $10 billion economy target.
Following suggestions from the Union Minister, the state plans to promote high-value local products such as Lakadong turmeric and incorporate ethnic architectural styles in homestays and tourism infrastructure.
CM Sangma reaffirmed the government’s focus on strengthening rural infrastructure and road connectivity to support tourism and drive inclusive economic development.
He expressed appreciation for the Union Minister’s continued support and valuable inputs.
