The Paona Mongfam Protection and Celebration Committee (PMPCC) on Friday commemorated the 134th death anniversary of Paona Brajabasi with a solemn event held at Arapti in Thoubal district.

The program featured traditional ceremonies and heartfelt tributes to the valiant warrior who remains a symbol of courage and patriotism.

Member of Parliament (Inner Manipur) Bimol Akoijam attended the commemorative event as a special guest. Also present was Paonam Pishak, a descendant of Paona Brajabasi, who honored the occasion with his presence.

Addressing the gathering, MP Bimol Akoijam paid homage to Paona’s legacy, recalling his bravery and unwavering spirit during difficult times. Citing the Cheitharol Kumbaba, he reminded the audience of Paona’s resolute words: “Death is inevitable for us now. But we will never retreat.”

“This is the spirit we must remember,” Bimol Akoijam said, urging the younger generation to find inspiration in the steadfast character and sacrifices of leaders like Paona Brajabasi.
