Itanagar, Apr 26: Gauhati University conferred the honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) degree on Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein during its 32nd Convocation.
The degree was presented by Assam Governor and Chancellor of Gauhati University, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, and other dignitaries.
Chowna Mein expressed gratitude to Gauhati University for the recognition, describing it as an honour to be acknowledged by one of the leading institutions of higher education in Northeast India. He thanked the university’s Chancellor, Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Executive Council members, and the academic fraternity for the honour.
He said the recognition further motivates him to continue working for the preservation and promotion of Arunachal Pradesh’s heritage, culture, and traditions.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Chowna Mein, stating that the honour reflects his contribution as a political leader, cultural guardian, and promoter of peace and harmony.
