In a bid to crack down on extortion activities across the state, intelligence-based combing operations and cordon and search operations are being carried out extensively.
As part of these efforts, security forces arrested two active members of the outlawed outfit KCP (Noyon) on Saturday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shagolshem Lemba Meitei (43) and Shagolshem Romen Meitei (40), both residents of Loushangkhong Makha Leikai in Imphal East District. They were apprehended from Sawombung Gate near the Forest Office under Lamlai Police Station jurisdiction. According to police, the duo was engaged in collecting money to fund their organisation’s activities.
During the arrest, security personnel seized one four-wheeler, two mobile phones, and two wallets from their possession.
In a separate operation the same day, Manipur Police conducted a special drive to recover stolen and snatched vehicles. During the drive, police recovered seven vehicles from anti-social elements and miscreants. Additionally, tinted glasses were removed from 207 vehicles in compliance with traffic regulations.
Authorities have stated that such operations will continue to ensure law and order in the state.
