Guwahati, Apr 29: Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) has installed 135 AI-based CCTV cameras equipped with panic buttons at Guwahati Railway Station to bolster passenger safety and security. This move is part of NF Railway’s ongoing efforts to enhance surveillance and operational efficiency at one of the busiest railway stations in the region.
The AI-powered cameras feature advanced technologies such as face recognition and intrusion detection, enabling real-time alerts in case of any criminal activity or tampering. Panic buttons have been placed at 20 critical locations within the station, allowing passengers to instantly alert authorities during emergencies. Upon activation, the control room receives immediate notifications for a prompt response by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NF Railway, highlighted that the new security measures are designed to improve passenger safety, particularly during emergencies.
NF Railway plans to expand the use of AI-based CCTV systems to other major stations in the future as part of its commitment to enhancing security and operational efficiency.
