Shillong, May 1: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma of Meghalaya participated in the National Seminar on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Lady Keane College, Shillong. The seminar, supported by the Chief Minister’s Special Grant, provided an insightful platform to discuss the rich and diverse contributions of IKS in areas like science, Ayurveda, mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy.
During his speech, CM Sangma highlighted the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge and its crucial role in maintaining cultural heritage. He also discussed the enduring contributions of traditional institutions in governance, stressing their continued relevance in modern society.
Sangma encouraged the younger generation to take pride in their heritage and actively engage in preserving and promoting indigenous knowledge for the future. He expressed his appreciation to Lady Keane College for organizing the event and urged the institution to document the discussions for the benefit of students and researchers.
