Shillong, May 2: The Meghalaya Cabinet, in its meeting held on Thursday, approved the Meghalaya AYUSH Medical Service Rules, 2025, and amendments to the Meghalaya Civil Defence & Home Guards Service Rules, 1989.
The Meghalaya AYUSH Medical Service Rules, 2025 aim to establish clear guidelines for the appointment, service conditions, and career growth of medical practitioners in traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga, and Naturopathy. These systems have long been integral to rural healthcare in the state and are gaining more recognition under national health policies.
The Cabinet also approved an amendment to the Meghalaya Civil Defence & Home Guards Service Rules, 1989, which will facilitate the creation of a dedicated post of Director of Civil Defence. This role has previously been overseen by the Commandant General of Home Guards.
