Aizawl, May 2: Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), held an interaction with a visiting delegation from the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The NCST team is on an official visit to the state to assess development initiatives and challenges concerning Scheduled Tribes.
The delegation was led by NCST Chairman Antar Singh Arya and included Members Nirupam Chakma, Asha Lakra, and Jatothu Hussain, accompanied by officials.
During the meeting, the Governor praised the Commission’s proactive role in reviewing the welfare of tribal communities in Mizoram. He emphasized the need for sustained and targeted development programmes, noting that the state is predominantly inhabited by Scheduled Tribes.
The NCST delegation shared their findings from field visits across Mizoram and discussed issues needing focused attention. The interaction highlighted a shared commitment to enhancing the welfare and rights of Scheduled Tribes in the state.
