Agartala, May 02, 2025: The CPIM’s party office in Tripura’s Mandai under West Tripura district was gutted in a fire allegedly set by miscreants, drawing sharp political responses and a surge in party morale. Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar visited the charred remains of the Jatugarh office on Thursday and launched a scathing attack on the BJP, calling the incident a sign of the ruling party’s weakness and loss of public trust.

Speaking to party workers and supporters, Sarkar said, “This fire is not just an act of sabotage. It reflects the desperation and declining popularity of the BJP. In their seven and a half years of rule, they have failed to win public confidence.”

Former TTAADC Chief Executive Member Radhacharan Debbarma also visited the site and extended support to the local cadre. Sarkar emphasized that despite repeated attacks, six in Mandai alone, the spirit of CPIM activists remains unshaken.

“People are suffering under BJP’s rule,” Sarkar continued. “Hospitals are crippled due to shortage of doctors, nurses, and health workers. The education system is in disarray. Children are being sold, and families are forced to migrate for jobs. Corruption is rampant across all sectors—agriculture, rural development, urban planning, fisheries—everything.”

He accused the BJP of trying to divide society along tribal-non-tribal and Hindu-Muslim lines. “Tipra Motha and BJP are targeting the unity of Tripura’s people. These are dangerous conspiracies. But the people must resist this. Unity is our strength,” Sarkar urged.

Reflecting on internal unrest within the BJP, he added, “Their own leaders are frustrated, their support is shrinking. Compared to 2018, their vote share and number of seats have dropped. Even those who differ ideologically with us have condemned this attack.”

Sarkar concluded with a call for resistance, “This fire was pre-planned, but it cannot burn down our movement. The BJP may hate us, but they cannot erase us. The people’s participation in our rallies is growing, and this is our answer to their violence.”
