Agartala, May 02, 2025: In a coordinated effort to strengthen border security, the Ragna Border Outpost of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Dharmanagar Police launched a joint operation early Friday morning, resulting in the arrest of one Bangladeshi national and three Indian citizens near the Indo-Bangla border.

According to police sources, the operation was part of a special patrolling drive carried out by the BSF Battalion and Dharmanagar Police in the Ragana area. Around 7 AM, BSF jawans apprehended the four individuals and handed them over to the local police.

“We have arrested a Bangladeshi national and three Indian citizens during the joint operation,” confirmed a senior official from Dharmanagar Police Station. “A specific case has been filed, and a thorough investigation has been initiated.”

The arrested Bangladeshi has been identified as Happy Deb (25), a resident of the Bansipur area under Kulaura Police Station in Moulvibazar district, Bangladesh. The Indian citizens taken into custody include Almas Mia (3), Anjana Das (1) and Krishna Chandra Deb (28), son of Rabindra Chandra Deb from the Baruakandi area under Dharmanagar Police Station.

“All the accused have been produced before the District Court. We are probing the circumstances of their presence near the border and whether any cross-border infiltration or trafficking angle is involved,” the official added.

The successful operation underscores the ongoing vigilance and cooperation between the BSF and local police in preventing illegal activities along the sensitive Indo-Bangla border.
