Arunachal Governor Reviews Security, Emphasises Border Fencing And ILP Strengthening

Itanagar, May 3: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) conducted a detailed review of the state’s security situation at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Friday. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Mama Natung, Additional Director General of Police Vivek Kishore, and Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa.

The Governor was briefed on key security matters, including the progress of border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border and the enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system.

Governor Parnaik stressed the importance of border fencing, highlighting its role in preventing illegal infiltration, arms smuggling, and insurgent movement. He emphasized that the fencing would serve as a crucial demarcation of Indian territory, promoting security and socio-economic stability in the border regions.

The Governor also called for strengthening the ILP system, describing it as an essential measure to regulate the entry of non-residents and safeguard the demographic balance and cultural identity of the indigenous communities. He added that the ILP enhances law and order by facilitating better monitoring of visitors.

Additionally, the Governor reviewed the state’s surrender policy and other internal security concerns with the senior police officials. He appreciated the efforts of the state police and urged continued vigilance to ensure peace and development in Arunachal Pradesh.
