Agartala, May 03, 2025: A public awareness campaign on the Waqf Amendment was organized on Saturday by the Tripura Pradesh Janajati Morcha at the Dasarath Dev Smriti Bhavan in Agartala city. The event was attended by Pradesh BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, who used the platform to launch a scathing attack on the opposition.

Addressing the gathering, Bhattacharjee alleged, “The opposition is systematically spreading confusion among different sections of society regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill, which has been passed in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.” He claimed that false narratives are being propagated to mislead and provoke a particular section of the population.

Emphasizing the BJP’s intention behind the campaign, Bhattacharjee said, “This awareness program has been undertaken as per the directive of the BJP Central Committee to present the real purpose and correct information about the bill before the people.”

He further accused the opposition of fear-mongering. “Creating fear and confusion among the minorities is not only irresponsible but also condemnable,” he stated.

Highlighting the aim of the event, Bhattacharjee added, “We are making an effort to increase awareness among all sections of society. This is just the beginning. Similar public outreach programs will be organized in the future under the leadership of the BJP Yuva Morcha, Mahila Morcha, and other affiliated wings.”

The program marked a significant step by the BJP’s tribal wing to counter the narratives surrounding the Waqf Amendment and reach out to the broader public with what the party claims is the true intent of the legislation.
