Itanagar, May 3: Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated the Khelo India Multipurpose Hall in Kamle district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday, marking a key step in strengthening sports infrastructure in the region.
The indoor facility, constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore under the Khelo India scheme, is fully funded by the Central Government. It is designed to support multiple sports disciplines including boxing, badminton, judo, wushu, karate, taekwondo, weightlifting, table tennis, and volleyball, aimed at nurturing grassroots talent.
Arunachal Pradesh Ministers Kento Jini and Nyato Dukam, along with 25th Raga MLA Rotom Tebin, attended the inauguration. Senior officials from the Sports Authority of India and other dignitaries were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Mandaviya emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting sports in remote areas. “This initiative reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of encouraging youth participation in sports across every corner of the country,” he said.
The Minister also interacted with local youth and sportspersons, urging them to make full use of the facility. He highlighted the role of sports in building discipline, fitness, and national pride among young citizens.
