Agartala, May 05, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for all districts of Tripura, forecasting thunderstorms and moderate rainfall over the next five days. The alert includes a warning for gusty winds, with speeds expected to reach between 30 and 40 kmph in several areas.
“A cyclonic circulation persists at 1.5 km above mean sea level over East Assam and its adjoining areas. This system is influencing weather patterns across a large stretch extending from East Rajasthan to North Bangladesh, passing through East and West Madhya Pradesh, South-East Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand,” an IMD official said.
In the past 24 hours, all districts of Tripura recorded very light rainfall, the IMD reported. Dry conditions were also observed in the southern, western, Khowai, and northern districts, with only minimal precipitation recorded.
“There has been no significant change in maximum temperatures today. In fact, temperatures have remained above normal, with the mercury touching 34.6 degrees Celsius,” the official added.
Districts including Unakoti, Dhalai, Khowai and West Tripura have been placed under a yellow alert, with the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in isolated places. “There is also a possibility of gusty winds at one or two locations, which could reach speeds of up to 40 kmph,” the department cautioned.
Residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during the forecast period.
