Agartala, May 07, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various infrastructure and development projects worth ₹210 crore in Amarpur sub-division of Gomati district. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s vision for boosting tourism and strengthening healthcare infrastructure.

Announcing the introduction of special tourist police, Dr. Saha said, “We are preparing a force of special executives who will be deployed at key tourist locations to ensure the safety and security of visitors. Tripura is now a peaceful state, free from insurgency, and we want to promote this image.”

He also confirmed that land has been identified in Agartala for the proposed Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, which will be a 100-bedded facility. “This institute will reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for specialized eye treatment,” he added.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s focus on developing Tripura’s rich tourism potential. “Unakoti, Ujjayanta Palace, Rudrasagar, and Chabimura have immense historical and cultural value. Around ₹67 crore will be invested in Chabimura’s development, which will be completed on schedule,” he said.

Dr. Saha also took a swipe at previous governments, accusing them of neglecting tribal welfare and tourism development. “They used Janajati people as vote banks. We are working for their upliftment and overall state progress,” he said.

Highlighting achievements in the health sector, he pointed out the government’s efforts in expanding trauma care facilities and initiating kidney transplant services. “The health department has never seen this scale of development in the last 35 years,” Dr. Saha asserted.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, present at the event, revealed plans to promote Chabimura globally and build replicas of the 51 Shakti Peeths within the state. “Tourism is the backbone of socio-economic growth,” he emphasized.

The event was also attended by MP Kriti Debbarma, MLAs Ranjit Das, Pathan Lal Jamatia, and Sanjay Manik Tripura, along with TTAADC Executive Member Dolly Reang, District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma, and SP Namit Pathak.
