Guwahati, May 8: A suspicious drone was recovered by Assam Police near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Sribhumi district on Wednesday evening.

The black-colored drone was discovered on the roof of a house in the Chorakuri area, which is located about 50 meters from the Kushiyara River, a key part of the international border.

Upon receiving reports from locals, police reached the scene and seized the drone, which was marked “Made in China.” Authorities suspect that the drone may have crossed over from Bangladesh.

“We were informed about a black-colored drone found on a house in Chorakuri. Upon arrival, we recovered the drone, which had ‘Made in China’ written on it. We suspect it may have crossed the border, and we are now analyzing it,” said Partha Protim Das, Superintendent of Police, Sribhumi district.

The police investigation is ongoing.

This recovery comes just days after the arrest of six Bangladeshi nationals who were attempting to illegally cross into Assam. On April 26, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the arrests made by Sribhumi Police as part of a crackdown on unauthorized border crossings.

Sarma emphasized Assam’s zero-tolerance policy on border infiltration, stating, “Assam stands firm! No infiltration will be tolerated. Sribhumi Police apprehended six infiltrators attempting to cross the border illegally and took immediate action to push them back.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate both the drone and the recent border infiltration attempt.
