Agartala, May 08, 2025: Senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman visited the Kanchanpur subdivision on Thursday after a gap of five years and criticized the state government’s failure in ensuring holistic development in the region.

During his one-day visit, Roy Barman participated in an organizational meeting held at the Kanchanpur Congress Bhavan. Accompanied by party leader Chayan Bhattacharya, he held in-depth discussions with party workers on the current organizational structure and future strategies.

Addressing the gathering, Roy Barman questioned the state government’s role in the overall development of Kanchanpur. “There has been no significant improvement in Kanchanpur or the rest of the state. The picture of development is extremely disappointing,” he stated.

Alongside political discussions, the MLA also commented on national security issues. Expressing his support for the Indian Army’s recent retaliatory actions against Pakistan, Roy Barman said, “The Indian Army has responded with bravery in the current situation. We stand firmly with our soldiers.”

He also announced that a peace procession carrying the national flag will be organized by the Congress on May 9. “We will march with the tricolor to express our solidarity with the brave soldiers of the nation,” Roy Barman added.
