11 Bangladeshi Nationals, Including 4 Children, Detained While Attempting to Cross Border in Tripura

Agartala, May 09, 2025: Eleven Bangladeshi nationals, including four children, were apprehended by Tripura Police and Border Security Forces (BSF) on Friday morning while allegedly attempting to illegally cross the international border near the Srinagar area under Sabroom Sub-division in South Tripura district.

According to police sources, alert villagers first discovered the group inside an abandoned house belonging to one Dhananjay Debnath in Karlia Tila, Krishnanagar Gram Panchayat under the Poangbari RD Block. The villagers promptly informed authorities and handed the individuals over to local police and BSF personnel.

The detained group had reportedly travelled from Gujarat and were attempting to return to Bangladesh, sources added. The group comprises three men, four women, and four children.

The individuals have been identified as Monish Sidhar (40), Muniya (12), Nashreen Begam, Ratul Mir Dha (04), Rahim (12), Ahmad Seikh (34), Seema (28), Tarun Seikh (02), Limo (18), Md Isha Seikh (21), and Arafat Seikh (02).

“We have taken them into custody and will produce them before the court. A police remand will be sought for further interrogation,” a senior police officer stated.
